1) Vision of the Commander of Yahweh's Army

Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand. Joshua went up to him and asked, “Are you for us or for our enemies?”

“Neither,” he replied, “but as commander of the army of the Lord I have now come.” Then Joshua fell facedown to the ground in reverence, and asked him, “What message does my Lord have for his servant?”

The commander of the Lord’s army replied, “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy.” And Joshua did so.

- Joshua 5:13-15

2) Joshua

The time had now come there was no more delay, the Israelites will take Canaan

Joshua sent spies to scout out their land, gauging the size of their forces

He sent out the Ark carried by priests, and ordered the Twelve Tribes behind it

The priests reached the river the water receded and backed up to a town called Adam

Crossing the Jordan with divine help they knew

The Lord would deliver them soon!

The arrival of Israel was now drawing near

The hearts of their enemies melting with fear!

No one will be able to stand against you!

As in the desert with Moses, I will be with you!

Be strong and courageous, and you will lead them to their land!

The land that I had sworn that I would give to them!

-------SOLO-------

A man from each tribe each took up a stone from the dry river bottom of the Jordan

A memorial made at the place where they camped to remind them of this holy miracle

The fighting aged men were all circumcised by the flint knives forged by Joshua

At a place called Gilgal on the Jericho Plains they all celebrated Passover

Crossing the Jordan with divine help they knew

The Lord would deliver them soon!

The arrival of Israel was now drawing near

The hearts of their enemies melting with fear!

No one will be able to stand against you!

As in the desert with Moses, I will be with you

Be strong and courageous, and you will lead them to their land!

The land that I had sworn that I would give to them!

Joshua!

Oh, oh, oh Joshua!

Yeah!

3) Sounding of the Shofar at Jericho

On the Seventh Day

They marched around the city

At the seventh circuit ‘round

The priest sounded the blast

Throughout the sky

The sound of the shofar

Was heard by all

Who returned with their battle-cry

The walls collapsed around

They charged into the breach

The soldiers took the city

No mercy was shown

They devoted Jericho

To The Lord

And everything that lived

Was put to the sword

Was put to the sword

Was put to the sword

Fall!

Jericho fall!

By the sound of the shofar’s blows trumpeting through the city’s steadfast walls!

Fall!

Jericho fall!

May he be cursed whoever dares and undertakes to rebuild this place!

Fall!

Jericho fall!

By the sound of the shofar’s blows trumpeting through the city’s steadfast walls!

Fall!

Jericho fall!

May he be cursed whoever dares and undertakes to rebuild this place!

-------SOLO-------

The city burned

With everything in it

The spoils of war were put into the treasury

They spared Rahab

And her family

For she hid the men they’d sent

As spies onto the land

Unknown to Israel

But known to God

The sin of Achan's greed

Would doom the next attack

At the rout to Ai

The Lord revealed the sin

Achan and all that he had

Was stoned and laid to waste

Achan laid to waste

Achan laid to waste

May he be cursed whoever dares that day!

4) Burning of Ai

30,000 soldiers waiting

A deadly ambush waits in the night

30,000 behind the city

Waiting for the signal to fight

Morning comes and Joshua marches

5,000 march at his side

To lure out the city's fighters

Feigning escape they turn back to fight!

Turning around in a frantic retreat

The armies of Joshua cut them down!

Down! Down! Down!

Black smoke rising on the horizon

As Ai burns from Israel's rage!

The javelin’s pointed towards the city

Ambushed, attacked and now it's in flames!

-------SOLO--------

30,000 descend on the city

The trap is sprung they've joined in the fight

30,000 burning the city

Send the attackers into a flight

From behind the 5,000 trap them

The men of Ai enclosed on all sides

Cut down with merciless fervor

Everything in the city will die!

Turning around in a frantic retreat

The armies of Joshua cut them down!

Down! Down! Down!

Black smoke rising on the horizon

As Ai burns from Israel's rage!

The javelin’s pointed towards the city

Ambushed, attacked and now it's in flames!

5) The Sun Stands Still Upon Gibeon

The king of Jerusalem had heard that they’d taken Ai

Gibeon feared Joshua and made peace with him with a lie

Adonai-Zedek alarmed at this troubling new revelation

He summoned five kings for war to bring their devastation

"Sun, stand still over Gibeon,

And you, moon, over the Valley of Aijalon.”

There has never been a day like it before nor any like it since!

The Sun Stood Still!

The Sun Stood Still!

The Sun Stood Still!

Gibeon pled Joshua to protect them from the attack

After an all-night march from Gilgal, Joshua struck them in the back

On the road down from Beth Horon to Azekah they began to flee

The Lord hurled large hail down upon the armies of the kings

"Sun, stand still over Gibeon,

And you, moon, over the Valley of Aijalon.”

There has never been a day like it before nor any like it since!

The Sun Stood Still!

The Sun Stood Still!

The Sun Stood Still!

-------SOLO-------

The Amorite armies fall; they fell more by hail than by sword

Joshua then spoke to them all in the presence of the Lord

The sun stopped in the sky and delayed going down for a day

"Surely the Lord was fighting for us!" To Gilgal they all marched away

"Sun, stand still over Gibeon,

And you, moon, over the Valley of Aijalon.”

There has never been a day like it before nor any like it since!

The Sun Stood Still!

The Sun Stood Still!

The Sun Stood Still!

The Sun Stood Still!

6) Five Kings are put to the Sword

The Amorite kings had all fled the battle

At a place called Makkedah they hid in a cave

Joshua ordered large rocks be rolled to the entrance

Positioned his armed guards to seal the kings in

After all of the stragglers from the battle were killed

The guards then reopened the mouth of the cave

They brought out the five kings as captives to Joshua

By the sword of his judgment he sent each to their grave

There is no place they can hide

The five kings are going to die

Come here! Place your foot on the neck of a king!

Five kings are put to the sword!

Come here! Place your foot on the throat of a king!

Five kings are put to the sword!

There is no place they can hide

The five kings are going to die

-------SOLO--------

The Amorite kings were now hanging from poles

They hung there until the evening had come

Joshua then ordered the corpses brought down

Their remains were thrown into the cave

No inscriptions or epitaphs made

This cavern hideout became the king’s tomb

A pile of rocks that remains till this day

A warning to all those who threaten this place

There was no place they could hide

The five kings have certainly died

Come here! Place your foot on the neck of a king!

Five kings are put to the sword!

Come here! Place your foot on the throat of a king!

Five kings are put to the sword!

There was no place they could hide

The five kings have certainly died

7) The Southern Cities Fall

The Armies of Israel, press the attack and march down into the vale

Over the rocky hills, like a wave, they lay claim over every stone!

Iron Age warriors clash for every Tel, on their way to destroy Hebron

With the power of God, on their side, outnumbered but not alone!

Their blood shall coat the rocks!

And stain deep the marl!

The chalk will turn red!

And no one shall live!

The Bronze Age dies!

As Canaan tastes defeat!

The Birth of the Iron Age

Shall set the world aflame!

Fight to the death! Extinguish every man!

From Makkedah, all Shfela!

Put to the sword, everyone you can!

From Lachish to Libnah!

Fight to the death! Extinguish every man!

From Eglon to Hebron!

Put to the sword, everyone you can!

King of Gezer and all Debir!

-------SOLO--------

The Armies of Israel, strike Eglon, march in the Valley of Adorayim

A place where 40 days, The Twelve Spies sent, scouted the Promised Land!

Now that fear is gone, from Moses' day, when only two reported good news

The giants they feared, that descend from Anak, now no longer stand!

Their blood now coats the rocks!

And stains deep the marl!

The chalk has turned red!

And no one now lives!

8) Blood-soaked Waters of Merom

Just north of the Sea of Kinneret,

Near a swamp known as Emek Ha-Hula

The armies of Jabin are gathering

...their forces for war!

Hearing the southern cities’ fate,

Burning and left in ruinous waste

The fear of the king as total war

...comes to Hazor!

“Do not be afraid of them

Because by this time tomorrow

I will hand all of them, over to Israel, slain!”

Near the blood-soaked Waters of Merom

Where the Northern Kings went to die!

The springs run red with their blood

At the Valley of Hula's west side!

Near the blood-soaked Waters of Merom

Where the Northern Kings went to die!

The springs run red with their blood

At the Valley of Hula's western side!

-------SOLO--------

The kings of the north who desired war

Now fill the swamp with their gore

The wrath of God’s army now turns

...towards Hazor!

As with the southern cities,

That were left in waste

Joshua destroyed the mound of Hazor

...with fire!

“Do not be afraid of them

Because by this time tomorrow

I will hand all of them, over to Israel, slain!”

Near the blood-soaked Waters of Merom

Where the Northern Kings went to die!

The springs run red with their blood

At the Valley of Hula's west side!

Near the blood-soaked Waters of Merom

Where the Northern Kings went to die!

The springs run red with their blood

At the Valley of Hula's western side!

9) Rest from War

There was rest from war, a long time had passed

Joshua gave each tribe their piece of the land

After the nation was born, Israel’s The Promised Land

He called all the Leaders to bid them farewell

He said:

"Now fear the Lord and serve Him, throw away the gods of your past

If serving God doesn’t suit you, choose this day whom you’ll serve"

"But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord!"

"But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord!"

"But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord!"

"But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord!"

-------SOLO--------

After dividing the land, the inheritance of the Tribes

Joshua prepared to go the way of the Earth

A nation now born; the promise of Yahweh fulfilled

A tired people can now call this place their home

"But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord
